You know you're living in the arctic when . . . it's only 22°F outside and you think, wow, it's pretty nice out today.

I read a few beautiful Finnish and Swedish blogs. Google Translate renders their text weirdly poetic. Everyday I read lines like:  The one who lived under the kitchen sink, was the cat's mouth.

At my house there is always music: ukelele, guitar, piano, drums, voices. There is also making, stories, and the sweetness of pets. These are my constants.

  1. You are so funny Susan, 22 degrees is pretty cold to me.
I am looking forward to a little silence, it's been a rough week.
    Enjoy the weekend.

  3. I thought the same today. I was outside soaking in the sunshine!! And it was still cold. My house is extremely quiet if you need a moment. I kind of miss the full house noise at times.

  4. It was minus three this morning. It got into the thirties and felt almost luxurious. ;-) I read a blog with the translator. Yeah. Funny stuff sometimes. I think there's a similar feel to Elsa Beskow books, like when they break into "Oh, Susanna" in Sweden.

  8. LOL - I was just saying to a friend who is moving from South Africa to England that we have had a really mild winter, that it has not been that cold really with temps between 0 and 8 degrees C. She must think I am mad as it very rarely drops below 10 in Cape Town :o)
