Slow Spring

The winter was long, one of the longest I can remember (rather like my blogging break!) and spring is slow to start. Just this week the forsythia has begun to bloom, and a few chartreuse halos adorn the willows and early maples (how I love that color!). But, there was snow in the air last Wednesday and after walking in the woods with the dogs, I am wearing a cardigan in the house and drinking hot tea.

Nearly a year has passed since I have written here, and in that time my life has changed in big and small ways. We got a new puppy in the fall. I herniated two discs in my back. I started, and then failed, to complete a monthly writing project. We received some bad news about my older children's bone disorder. I got a new camera for Christmas. Our dear house bunny died. We redecorated the kitchen. There were job changes and band changes, a new stove and clothes dryer, three big blizzards and a leak in the roof.

I'm still learning how to live with fibromyalgia. I think it must be linked to seasonal affective disorder, because I only experience symptoms in the winter. Right after the holidays, I lose the ability to read, write, knit, socialize or do anything that requires a brain, and I ache so badly that I limp through my days. I don't feel particularly blue or depressed, but it requires all of my energy to care for my family (I am very sorry for not staying connected to my online friends.)  When spring comes it feels like I am emerging from a cave.

And, it is spring now : )  Yippee!

PS: I've decided to go back to my old blog name home hum, because I think it most clearly describes me and what I write about.

  2. lovely pictures - glad the spring is helping! The blizzards were the worst this year - not so much the snow, the constant cold and no melting between did us all in around here.
