Summer Lovin'

  hammock + book
 bee + balm
 pool + pug
water + melon

Doesn't this watermelon look like a heart, as in I ♥ summer?

This afternoon I was floating in the pool, surrounded by blue--sky above, water below--and I thought: really, life doesn't get any better than this. I get all of my work done in the morning before the heat sets in and spend the afternoons poolside: reading, doing crossword puzzles, jotting down ideas, puttering in the garden. Evening are popcorn, iced tea, knitting and Alfred Hitchcock movies. In the past week we've watched: Strangers on A Train, To Catch a Thief, Dial M For Murder, and Suspicion

Tonight, we might get a thunderstorm--natural fireworks!

  2. Gosh, I'd have to agree, that sounds like the ideal way to spend midsummer days. Have you escaped the heat wave? Here it's too hot to do anything outside after 10 am.

    1. It's hot, hot, hot, but since New England is buried under snow four months out of the year, I love it when it gets all steamy and tropical. It's nice and cool in the pool. : )

  3. I've always been one to finish chores early so that the afternoon is my own time. Glad to know I have a twin in this life :)

  4. How good you are to get your work done so early! I try....sometimes. :D Knitting in July and August is only for the hardiest knitters, though! Do you sit in front of the fan?
