Raining Birds and Frogs

There was a storm today, the fierce, brief summer kind that leaves everything washed and green. Afterward, the trees were full of birds that I don't usually see. a big flock of cedar waxwings, this little Carolina wren. They came in on the wind. Apparently, so did six green frogs that ended up in our pool. The kids fished them out before they got trapped in the skimmers.

I ♥ summer storms, and knitting wool in the mail, a good book waiting on hold at the library, a dark chocolate mint after supper, dancing in the kitchen, letters and postcards from friends, a certain brown-eyed boy's eyelashes, laughing long and hard, crossword puzzles, blue ink and unlined paper, singing along to my favorite songs, the hour of sunset, birds and frogs.

What do you love?

  1. I love summer storms, too, forcing everyone inside for a bit. We've had several days of loud, threatening thunder and no rain.

    1. We have not had many summer storms this year. Instead, we've had lots of moist, overcast days. I like the drama of a storm. : )

  2. Aren't you lucky to have a storm! We had the threat of one all day Saturday but it ended up just a threat. Lovely images you painted in my mind.

  3. Nice, pretty and soothing blogs. :) Green everywhere. Days off. Feeling like I'm maybe catching up at home, a little?

Frogs blown into your pool! I've never seen a cedar waxwing, but we have wrens - I love them. Little brown puff balls with a tail that sticks out.

    1. I hope you're enjoying your time off. I love puttering around the house and in the garden. Ever since that storm I've been noticing new birds in my yard.
