My girl with the pearl earring . . . and her June bird.
Last spring I moved my Christmas cactus to a sunny, south-facing window and gave it new soil. That must have made it happy, because this is the first time it has bloomed since I purchased it nine years ago.
My Christmas knitting consisted of six pairs of these slippers. The pattern is one of those simple, ingenious things that is so much fun to knit (the instructions are for knitting flat, but I made mine in the round). They are super cozy--a hug for your feet.
I have no intentions or resolutions for 2014--'que sera, sera'; a new approach for me. It's taken me 46 years to get here, and I am looking forward to seeing what each new day brings. ♥
How about you? What is your outlook for the year ahead?
Happy New Year, Susan! I never make New Year's resolutions; if I think I should do something differently or new, it's going to be whenever, not necessarily at the new year.
ReplyDeleteThe birdie is cute - a friend of mine had a cockatiel once.
I don't like cactus but must admit yours looks lovely there on the shelf, in the sunlight. And your bird also, what a healthy and happy looking fellow. Makes me miss my own bird even more. Best wishes to your whole family for the new year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sunny window, and those slippers, I have had that pattern for years but never knit them up. What a perfect January project. Beautiful blog!
ReplyDeleteLove the pearl earring reference :) happy new year! I'm planning on knitting and knitting and more knitting!!
ReplyDeleteWell, isn't that the cutest set of slippers ever! I love the classic pattern and the way you chose to photograph them. Beautiful plant-filled window you have -- a nice sunny spot in the middle of this cold, cold January. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the New Year wishes and for your kind compliments on my knitting. : ) I hope this is a happy, healthy, and productive year for all of my friends.♥
