The wind is howling like a pack of wolves at my door. Over a foot of snow has fallen since yesterday, and it is very cold--the coldest temperature of the season: -16°F. While the snow came down yesterday, I watched the birds out my window. It surprised me to see a small flock of robins huddled in a snowy tree--robins in January! Poor things. This morning I find myself very thankful for my warm house, hot tea, and cozy chair.
We have four inches and I'm quite happy with that. I'm thankful for my water :) Stay cozy my friend!!
ReplyDeleteJanuary is one of my favorite months. We have three birthdays to celebrate, and there is almost always fresh, sparkling snow on the hills. : )
DeleteYes, you certainly got a lot, didn't you? We have maybe 6 inches. I saw a new bird at the feeder I've never seen before - apparently it's a type of cowbird, but entirely a sooty black color. I believe that some robins do stay all winter, and the other day I saw a flock of blackbirds, so maybe they are also changing their habits.
ReplyDeleteIt is always exciting to see a new bird at the feeder! I have heard that some robins stay all winter, too, but seeing is believing. I do think some birds are changing their habits, and populations have shifted quite a bit in the last few years. Some common species are hardly seen, and others, like the mockingbird have expanded their range.
DeleteIt looks very beautiful but I can imagine it is hard to live with.
ReplyDeleteSnowy, cold winters are all I have ever known. : )
DeleteIt looks absolutely beautiful, Susan. Supposed to get pretty cold here, too, -6° F. Mighty thankful for a warm house and working furnace and praying for those who are struggling to stay warm. So glad to have you back.
