These days of forced hibernation are making me as fat as a bear! Valentine candy, constant baking (what else is there to do?) equals reckless chocolate consumption. Teddy bears understand what it is like when snow piles resemble mountains and your world shrinks to the inside of a small cave (they are soft and kind and generous with hugs).

New England Winter Necessities:
  • a shovel
  • winter medicine (mine is tea and chocolate)
  • a long book (I'm reading War and Peace.)
  • fresh flowers (to help you remember spring)
  • pens, notebooks, puzzles, knitting wool, etc.(keeping head and hands happy = keeping your sanity)
  • a furry friend (for company)
 Recipe: Brownie Roll-out Cookies

  1. I really like your supplies for your medicine cabinet and even though I don't have all the snow I think I should stock mine just the same way.
I love puzzles, but haven't done one in awhile. We usually work on puzzles in the summer when it's too hot to go outside ;)

  2. Hmm, I bet your house smells delicious :) I love these winter hibernating days. I love sitting reading knitting and the only thing I miss is my daily walk. However we do try to get out once in a while. I don't want to completely decompose :D

  5. Lovely collection of photos. Those tea pot cookies look tasty! I had sworn off cookies, but, maybe... ;-) My medicine might be strawberries and citrus from CA and FL. Have to get through somehow!

  6. The roses are lovely. I read a good bit of War and Peace in 2003 but oh! my! goodness! Trying to keep the characters straight. . . ! I felt like I was spending as much time flipping back to the glossary of characters pages as I was reading. It's a good wintertime book, though, for sure. Sweet little tea pot cookies too. My mom would love those. ♥

  7. Amen sister! I'm in total agreement with nearly everything on your list. Okay... well maybe not War and Peace... The teapot cookies are so darn cute. Eat and enjoy! Soon you and Elvis will be hiking again.
