“November — the month of crimson sunsets, parting birds, deep, sad hymns of the sea, passionate
wind-songs in the pines. ~L.M. Montgomery (Anne of the Island Ch.25)

My favorite Christmas film is the animated classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas, by Dr. Seuss. I love the scene where everything has been stripped away from the whos--stolen by the Grinch--and the whos come out of their houses with joyful hearts, holding hands and singing.♥
Wanna see something pretty? My Christmas cactus has decided to be a Thanksgiving cactus this year. Once it gets going, it usually blooms for a few months, so it should still be going strong for Christmas.♥
Seth brought home our Thanksgiving turkey today. I told him to get the biggest one at the store, and he did. It weighs twenty-seven pounds! That's the biggest we've ever had. (I think last year's turkey was twenty-three pounds.)♥
I'm just finishing up a second pair of socks to send to Tracey for her socks for the homeless project. There's still time to send socks, as Tracey has extended the deadline to December 1st. You don't have to be a knitter to help; dark colored, store bought socks are fine, too.♥
I really love this gathering-in time of year with frost covered mornings and candle-shine evenings.

I still haven't turned the heat on yet! But, it has been a very warm autumn. Even with cold nights and frosty mornings, the days continue to be mild. Today it was 55° and tiny winter moths fluttered in the late afternoon twilight.

Beauty is healing. Cats are beautiful and very good company. I will always keep a cat.

Sometimes I think that life is too hard and I am too small. But, then I remember that God is big and I am His.
We share the same favorite Christmas movie, I love Max.
ReplyDeleteLove the last line of your post, beautiful!
PS- thank you!!
Thank you! ♥
DeleteI love the grays and browns of this month, as in your upper photos. Yours is a true pioneer spirit, to not have put on the heat yet.
ReplyDeleteSomeone I know heard that if cats were bigger, and we were smaller, they'd probably kill us. HA! It's not hard for me to believe. But, they are the small ones and we are the big ones, and I can love cats. :) Ours are listening to the nightly jazz program now.
Does your cactus really bloom for so long?
We finally turned on the heat the Monday before Thanksgiving.
DeleteI can't imagine Indiana Jones killing anyone, not even a mouse! LOL!
Once my cactus gets going, the buds just keep coming. : )
Thank you for commenting, Lisa. ♥
I always enjoy reading what you have to say. November is such an interesting time of year. They are all interesting, I am coming to learn. Beauty is healing. Sometimes it has been the only thing keeping me going, it seems.

Yes, beauty is the thing that keeps finding me and keeps me getting up each morning. Thank you, Brandy. ♥
DeleteYour last sentence resonates in me. I love it. I have been praying every single morning for your daughter and for your family. You are never alone. I am so so happy you are blogging again and sharing snippets of your day. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteKaren, it means so much to me to know that you are praying for my daughter and my family. Thank you! ♥
DeleteI love your sunset. I'v e lost 28 lbs this year on Weight watchers...I want to pick up that turkey!
ReplyDeleteWell, no wonder you're not making cookies this year! That is awesome, Kathy! I need to lose about 28 lbs myself. Maybe 2016 will be the year. My mom lost 35 lbs with Weight Watchers over twenty years ago and has kept it off all this time.
DeleteWhat a lovely thankful post with pretty photographs. Thank you for sharing your positive comments. I wonder how long it will take to cook that turkey...it's a whopper...
ReplyDeleteHappy days,
debx
It took exactly 7 hours to roast the turkey--and it was delicious! Thank you for stopping by, Debby. ♥
