It doesn't take much to make me happy: a strong cup of tea, an orange ginger donut from Union Square Donuts, a good book, soft wool to knit with, and a very little garden:
It's small, but each year it gives us lots of good things to eat. This season I am starting with broccoli, peas, lettuce and strawberries:
At the end of June, these will be replaced with cucumbers, beans and peppers. I grow my tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets on my deck.
My tiny farm also has four laying hens that give us fresh eggs every day.
It's not much, but it's mine and I love it. <3
Have a lovely day!

Thanks for the tour! You're farther along than we are. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour tiny farm is bigger than mine ;) Love the back yard tour!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking garden! Obviously you have a green thumb!

It looks great, and encourages me to think I can do the same and have some success. Do your chickens roam, or do they live always in their hutch? We would like chickens but are worried about the side effects eg rodents, flies.
ReplyDeleteOur backyard is fenced, so we let the chickens out of the coop a couple of hours a day "free range". Flies have not been a problem, and an outdoor cat keeps other rodents out of the yard. I like our chickens, but they are extra work, and if you only keep a few hens they are not economical.
DeleteI think your teeny tiny farm is wonderful. Ours is not much bigger; it is amazing how much produce can be grown though. I'm trying to create a micro-climate for the first time, growing cucumbers over old window mullions (rescued from a trash pile) and planting spinach below. I love the little gnome living in your lettuce patch. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of utilizing the space you have by expanding your garden upwards rather than outwards. Cool!
