Amy told me that snowdrops were blooming in our neighbor's garden. I don't remember ever seeing them this early, but it's been a very mild winter. I grabbed my camera to document it. That was yesterday.
Today, the snowdrops have vanished beneath eight inches of snow (and it's still falling!). It's so lovely. There are only a few short weeks of winter left in which to read novels, knit, drink hot chocolate, bake cookies, light candles, and snuggle under blankets. I intend to enjoy every minute of this season of beauty, rest, and coziness.
I love the soft hush of falling snow. I took a little video for you when I got up this morning:
And, here are a few things I have enjoyed this week:
Have you seen the new Barbie dolls yet? What do you think of them? While good toys are certainly important, we can't forget that it's people who have the greatest influence on a child's developing self-concept.
Lent begins next Wednesday. Here are eight ways to deepen your prayer and keep a more meaningful Lent.
Efficient Life Skills presents a unique way to tie shoes that is fast, simple, and easy.
I am enchanted by Guinevere von Sneeden's fairy tale art and fairy tale cottage in New England complete with a house bunny!
One of my favorite authors is Alice Hoffman. She and her cousin Lisa are doing a column for Faerie magazine that features a short story by Alice and a knit design by Lisa. Enchanting! Amy wants me to maker her Rose's Wristlets.
Oh, your snow is so lovely! Thanks for sharing the pictures and the video. :-) I'm not a fan of fashion dolls or the like, at all, and I think it's yet another tactic toward getting at our pocket books. That little cottage is very pretty! My best friend has a house bunny.

I miss our old house bunny. Someday I'll have another one. It's always great to hear from you Brandy.♥
DeleteI never thought Barbie was pretty, or appealing in any way. These are a great improvement. But you are right - the parents' influence can be far greater than a toy. (if only they realized it) That woman's instagram blog is amazingly beautiful! But a little spooky, too. I love the wristlets, but don't think I could manage them; I've never used a chart for knitting. Enjoy the snow, Susan!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I'm sure you could knit from a chart. Most knitters find it easier than knitting from written instructions. The color work in that pattern is "double knitting" which is simpler than stranded (fair isle) color work and creates a lovely reversible fabric.
DeleteI wish I had snow. But I do not so I have to love yours instead. I like Hoffman overall but I've read one or two of her books that were out there! Still love the way she writes and reveals a story.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about Hoffman's books; a couple of them are "out there". We have even more snow now--it snowed another 6 inches yesterday.
DeleteI'm so jealous of your snow! We've been in the 69s and 70s. It's hardly felt like winter. Guinivere's Instagram is amazing! Her stone cottage is the definition of hygge. Are you on IG? Look me up if you are...I'm under msennour.
ReplyDeleteI'm not on IG, but I do love looking at other peoples'. We've had hardly any snow at all this winter, so I am very happy about this little storm.
